Podiatry and chiropody – care of the feet and lower limbs
Our feet are our main mode of transport, so it’s important that we look after them. Visiting Debby Luxton at The Luxton Clinic on a regular basis will help keep your feet healthy and keep you active and mobile.
Podiatry or chiropody is the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of conditions relating to the foot and the lower limbs. This could be routine care of the foot such as corns, callus (hard skin) and nail cutting; orthopaedic conditions such as plantar fasciitis or heel pain; or specialist care and advice for patients with conditions such as diabetes or arthritis.
Podiatry is about treating the person, not just the feet, which is why a full case history is taken on your first visit and details of illnesses, operations and medication is noted. As well as treating your foot/lower limb problem we will offer advice regarding footwear and care of your feet at home.
We can also help to prevent or correct deformities, keeping you mobile and active and helping to prevent falls, particularly in older patients. We treat infections and can also administer podiatric medicines including local anaesthetics and antibiotics. Treatments are available for patients of all ages and we can also offer specialist advice and care for sportsmen and women.
Debby Luxton is registered with the Health Professions Council and completed a three year Bachelor of Science degree in Podiatry.
